Shawn Maranan's all-around effort has earned him the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen male athlete of the week.
Maranan, a third-year guard on the Wesmen men's basketball team, was a key contributor in the team sweeping the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on the season-opening weekend.Â
Friday night, Maranan had a game-high four steals — one off his career-high — and scored 15 points with six rebounds and three assists as the Wesmen drubbed the Wolfpack, 84-49. The following night, Maranan had a game-high 24 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals as the Wesmen rallied to win 72-66.
For the weekend, Maranan hit 9 of 14 three-pointers (64.2 per cent) and shot 57 per cent from the field.Â
