If setting a program record once wasn't enough, Madison Priebe decided to do it twice.

And for that the second-year keeper on the Wesmen women's soccer team has been named the Birchwood Auto Group female athlete of the week.

Priebe helped backstop the Wesmen to their first point of the season Sunday and kept the team competitive against one of the top teams in the country the day before.

In a 2-0 loss with 2021 national champion MacEwan, Priebe set the program record for saves in a match with 17, bettering the mark of 15, which had been set three times: first by Justina Jamoszko in 2015,  then by Taryn Raabe in 2022 and again by Priebe earlier this season in Calgary. 

She followed up that stellar performance with another remarkable outing, making 17 more saves as the Wesmen earned a 1-1 draw with the Alberta Pandas to move to 0-3-1. 

The Wesmen are on the road this weekend for matches at Regina (Sept. 9, 1 p.m.) and Saskatchewan (Sept. 10, 3 p.m.). Those matches can be seen on Canada West TV.
