Putting up one of the top performances of her career has earned Raia Guinto the MBLL Wesmen female athlete of the week award.

Guinto, a fourth-year guard on the women's basketball team, scored 28 points Sunday in a narrow season-opening loss to the Brandon Bobcats. It was Winnipeg's lone game of the weekend. 

Guinto also made five three-pointers and shot 11-for-20 from the field. Her points and threes made were both one off her career-highs.

The Wesmen head to Edmonton to take on the MacEwan Griffins in their first road trip of the season Friday and Saturday.
