A fantastic freshman has earned the MBLL Wesmen female athlete of the week award.
Anna Filippin-Buller, a first-year left side on the Wesmen women's volleyball team, had a breakout weekend off the bench, providing a spark on Friday night that was nearly flawless.
In a four-set loss to the No. 4-ranked Trinity Western Spartans, Filippin-Buller came off the bench and had 10 kills and hit .421 on 19 swings while also picking up five digs. She finished second on the team in points.
The next night, Filippin-Buller was called upon again and while she didn't have as many kills, she still knocked down three with no errors to hit .333. She also had two aces and served the Wesmen through a five-point run in the third set.Â
For the weekend, Filippin-Buller hit .393.
