In helping the UWinnipeg women's volleyball team to a massive sweep at Calgary, Ashleigh Laube has been named the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen female athlete of the week.
Laube, a fifth-year left side from Fort Richmond Collegiate, posted a pair of double-doubles as the Wesmen earned a sweep in Calgary for the first time since 2002.Â
On Friday, Laube had a match-high 16 kills and 12 digs, while adding two aces, to lift the Wesmen to a four-set victory over the Dinos in a key clash between two teams that had been tied in the conference standings.
The following night, Laube added 10 kills and 10 digs with an ace as the Wesmen swept the Dinos to move to 11-5 on the season.
Laube is nearing a 1,000/1,000 club as she now sits at 952 kills and 962 digs for her career.Â
The Wesmen are on the road in Regina for two matches this weekend.Â
