A career first against her former team has earned Chloe Zarrillo the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen female athlete of the week award.

Zarrillo, a sophomore forward out of MBCI, scored her first career Canada West goal Friday in helping the Wesmenwomen's soccer team earn a quality point in a 1-1 draw at Mount Royal. To make it better, Zarrillo's goal came against her former team. Zarrillo was recruited to MRU for 2020 and played her freshman season in 2021. 

Zarrillo converted off a Jazmyn Castro corner as the clock hit the 11th minute. The ball fell into a crush of players and Zarrillo managed to find her foot to the ball, sending a shot past MRU keeper Torrance Langdon to put the Wesmen up 1-0.

The Wesmen are off this weekend before playing three of their final four Canada West games on their home pitch.
