An efficient weekend from the field has earned Alberto Gordo the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen male athlete of the week.

Gordo, a second-year guard from Spain, averaged 19 points per game as the Wesmen men's basketball team earned a non-conference split against Lakehead and McMaster last weekend at the U of M.

Gordo put up 23 points with nine assists on 10-for-17 shooting as the Wesmen dropped an 85-84 decision to the Thunderwolves. He followed that up with 15 points and seven rebounds on 7-for-10 shooting in an 86-69 dismantling of the Marauders. Against Mac, he scored the team's first six points and 11 of the first 17 as the Wesmen stormed out to an early lead. 

Gordo finished the two-game set shooting 63 per cent from the field.
