An efficient opening weekend has earned Christine Kolbuck the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen female athlete of the week.
Kolbuck, a third-year middle blocker from Transcona Collegiate, helped the Wesmen women's volleyball team to a quality road split Friday and Saturday in Kelowna, B.C.
In a four-set upset over the UBCO Heat on Friday, Kolbuck made no errors on 13 swings with six kills to hit a team-high .462. She also added two aces.
The next night, Kolbuck added another six kills on 14 swings while adding a solo block and two block assists.
For the weekend, Kolbuck hit .370 and had 16 points, which was third-best on the team.
The Wesmen will host their home-opening weekend Friday and Saturday when they welcome the Trinity Western Spartans. Tickets are available at wesmen.ca/tickets
