After posting career-highs from the service line and at the net, Paxton Koop has been named the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen male athlete of the week.
Koop, a third-year middle blocker on the Wesmen men's volleyball team, posted a career-high five aces on Friday as the Wesmen swept the UBCO Heat in Kelowna, B.C.
Seventy per cent of Koop's match-high 13.5 points came from service or blocking as the Steinbach, Man., product also added a career-high four solo blocks, along with a block assist in the win.Â
Koop also chipped in with seven digs, five assists and four kills, while hitting .250.
The next night, in a three-set loss, Koop did more of his damage in the attack, notching eight kills on .538 attacking, while adding two more aces and 11 points.
The Wesmen will host their home-opening weekend Friday and Saturday when they welcome the Trinity Western Spartans. Tickets are available at wesmen.ca/tickets
