Another week, another award for Selva Planincic.
Planincic, a fourth-year right side with the Winnipeg Wesmen women's volleyball team, has been named the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Wesmen female athlete of the week after a splendid weekend that included a never-before-seen achievement in a sweep of the Brandon Bobcats.Â
On Friday, in a three-set win over Brandon, Planincic became the first player in Canada West history since attacking percentage was tracked to record no attacking errors on more than 20 swings. She had 17 kills on 25 swings with zero errors while adding 15 digs, two aces and four block assists.
Planincic's .680 attacking was a Canada West season-high for an outside hitter.
The next night, she put down another 15 on 33 swings to hit .303 while chipping in 11 digs, three block assists and three aces.
For the weekend, she hit .466 and averaged 16 kills and 13 digs.Â
