Kato Jaro set a career-high and then did it again to earn the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Wesmen male athlete of the week.

Jaro, a freshman point guard with the Wesmen men's basketball team, scored a career-high 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting in 25 minutes of action in Winnipeg's dominant 87-48 victory at Mount Royal. Jaro also added five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The next night, Jaro matched his 14 points and chipped in another five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes of play. 

For the weekend, Jaro shot 12 of 15 from the field and 4-for-7 from three as the Wesmen improved to 7-1. 

The Wesmen host the Saskatchewan Huskies for a pair of games Friday and Saturday at the Duckworth Centre. Tickets are available online now.
