Posting a career-high and playing a key role in a critical win has earned Elijah Mensah the MBLL Wesmen male athlete of the week. 
 
Mensah, a sophomore forward on the Wesmen men’s basketball team, helped the Wesmen knock off the Brandon Bobcats Saturday night to salvage a split of the road trip between two of the conference’s top teams.
 
Mensah scored a career-high 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting in 21 minutes as the Wesmen won 88-83. He also made a career-high three three-pointers on five attempts and went 4-for-4 at the free throw line. 
 
Arguably his biggest play came with less than 30 seconds left and the Wesmen up 83-81. Mensah grabbed an offensive rebound, was fouled and made both free throws to help the Wesmen win. 
 
On Friday, Mensah scored eight points and was an efficient 4-for-8 from the field.
