With her best performance over a weekend of her young career, Jazmin Birch has been named the MBLL Wesmen female athlete of the week.
Birch, a first-year forward on the Wesmen women's basketball team, had two breakout performances against the Manitoba Bisons last week.
On Thursday, Birch scored a career-high 17 points in just 14 minutes. She was 7-for-11 from the field, 2-for-2 from three and added four rebounds.
On Saturday, Birch followed that up with 12 points and six rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench. She shot 4-7 from the field and made all four of her free throws. For the weekend, she shot 61 per cent from the field and averaged 14.5 points and five rebounds.
