A highly-efficient opening-weekend effort has earned Grace Vallis the MBLL Wesmen female athlete of the week honour.

Vallis, a second-year middle blocker on the Wesmen women's volleyball team, was among the leaders for the Wesmen as they pushed the defending national champion UBC Thunderbirds to five sets on Sunday.

Vallis had 10 kills on 16 swings and hit .500 for the Wesmen, and she added five block assists, a solo and an ace to her stat line. 

Vallis was also effective as an attacker a day earlier in a three-set loss. She had nine kills and only one error on 18 swings to hit .444. 

For the weekend, Vallis had 19 kills and hit a team-leading .471.
