Setting the table for a dominant Winnipeg sweep has earned Portia Switzer the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen female athlete of the week.
Switzer, a fourth-year setter on the Wesmen women’s volleyball team, combined for 65 assists in just seven sets of play to lead the Wesmen to a two-match sweep of the MacEwan Griffins last weekend in Edmonton. 
Switzer’s 9.3 assists per set have her ranked fourth nationally in that category. 
On Friday, Switzer put up 30 assists, two digs and a stuff block to lead the Wesmen to a straight-sets sweep of the Griffins.
The following night, she had 35 and seven digs as the Wesmen won in four.
