In leading one of the great comebacks in Wesmen history, Alberto Gordo has been named the MBLL Wesmen male athlete of the week.

Gordo, a third-year guard on the Wesmen men's basketball team, sparked the Wesmen to a 25-point fourth-quarter comeback as the Wesmen stunned the Alberta Golden Bears in overtime. 

The win also helped the Wesmen stay perfect on the year and earned them their first sweep at Alberta in the Canada West era. 

Gordo scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and then scored four of the team's 11 points in overtime. He also added one block and it was a big one, stopping a three-point attempt with the Wesmen up one. 

Gordo finished with a game- and season-high 22 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
