WINNIPEG - The University of Regina Cougars recorded a 1-0 victory over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Saturday evening at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex in Winnipeg.

The hometown Wesmen came out on fire putting offensive pressure on the Cougars and keeping the play in the Cougars end of the field.

The Cougars got their chance late in the contest and made no mistake. Vorrieter scored her first goal of the season taking a pass from Brianna Wright and beat Thorkelsson with a low shot to the far corner to score the eventual game winning goal.

Winnipeg registered 11 total shots. Regina finished with nine. Thorkelsson made six saves while Lowry made five for the shutout.

Both teams will be in action on Sunday. Regina will take on the Manitoba Bisons while the Wesmen will take on the Saskatchewan Huskies.
