The Winnipeg Wesmen will open on the road and then have a Labour Day Weekend clash to start their 2023 Canada West season.
The conference officially released the fixtures for the women's soccer season Monday and the Wesmen will start their campaign in Alberta, taking on the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Aug. 26 before travelling to Calgary to meet the Dinos the following afternoon. The match with the Pronghorns will pit the Wesmen against their former assistant coach, Thiago Bastos, who assumes the role as head coach of the Pronghorns for his first season.
The Wesmen will host their home-openers the following weekend with MacEwan and Alberta coming to town Sept. 2 and 3 to play at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.Â
The annual Winnipeg derby with Manitoba will be held Oct. 7, when the Wesmen visit the Bisons, and Oct. 8, when Manitoba comes to the Cantafio.Â
The Wesmen close the conference season with Saskatchewan and Regina visiting Winnipeg Oct. 14 and 15.
Winnipeg will also have home matches against UBC and UNBC, Sept. 15 and 16. It will be just the second time the Wesmen and Timberwolves have met in the past six years, and the first time since 2017 they've travelled to Winnipeg.Â
In addition to the annual Regina and Saskatchewan road fixtures, the Wesmen will travel one other time, Sept. 22 and 24 when they go to Mount Royal and Victoria.Â
