Madisyn Furber, a third-year forward with Wesmen women's soccer, is the first Birchwood Auto athlete of the week for 2022-23.
Furber, a Garden City Collegiate graduate, scored her first career goal on Friday night in a 3-1 loss to the UNBC Timberwolves in Prince George, B.C.
Furber, who converted from keeper to forward for the 2021 season, brought the Wesmen to 2-1 down when she neatly converted a cross from Emma Friesen inside the six-yard box in the 57th minute. 
The Wesmen host their home-opening weekend Saturday and Sunday when they welcome Victoria and UBC for 11 a.m. kickoffs at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.
