In helping the Winnipeg Wesmen to a remarkable reversal last weekend, Carmen Hiebert has been named the Birchwood Auto Group Wesmen female athlete of the week.

Hiebert, a third-year forward on the Wesmen women's basketball team, posted her first career double-double and helped the Wesmen gain a split on the road in their season-opening trip to Kelowna, B.C.

Hiebert had 10 points on 50 per cent shooting, two rebounds and a steal to lead the Wesmen in an 89-48 loss to the UBCO Heat on Friday, but led the way the following night as the Wesmen turned the tables with a 44-point turnaround that improved their record to 1-1.

In that game, Hiebert had a team-high 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and a steal as the Wesmen won 54-51.

The Wesmen host their home-opening weekend Friday and Saturday against UBC. Tickets are available at wesmen.ca/tickets.
