Quietly helping lead his team to a Wesmen Classic title has earned Ethan Duncan the MBLL Wesmen male athlete of the week.
Duncan, a fifth-year middle blocker on the Wesmen men's volleyball team, was named the tournament MVP as the Wesmen went 4-0 to capture the 56th annual Classic last weekend at the Duckworth Centre.
The Wesmen found a way to get nearly their entire roster playing time throughout the three-day event, and Duncan was a steadying veteran in his appearances. He opened the tournament with seven kills on 10 swings in a four-set win over Gueplh. He also added three solo blocks and a block assist for 10.5 points to help the Wesmen handled the No. 11-ranked team in the country, which came in with seven wins in nine matches in OUA play.Â
Duncan added three more kills on eight swings in a win over Laval the following day, and in limited play in the tournament finale converted a kill on his lone swing against Dalhousie.Â
For the weekend, Duncan made just three attack errors and hit .421.
