SASKATOON — Ashleigh Laube had 17 kills to lead three players in double figures as the Winnipeg Wesmen women's volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to the Saskatchewan Huskies Friday night.

The Wesmen were up two sets in the match, but the Huskies rallied to post a 3-2 (23-25, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-7) Canada West conference victory that pushed the Wesmen to the final playoff spot in the league.

Saskatchewan improved to 10-5 on the season, while the Wesmen lost their second straight match and fell to 7-10. The Wesmen hold the No. 8 spot in the Canada West with UBC-Okanagan losing on Friday and UBC winning to move into seventh. 

The Wesmen have seven more matches remaining on their schedule, beginning Saturday with a rematch with the Huskies in Saskatoon. 

Emma Parker had 14 kills and a season-high 19 digs for the Wesmen, who hit .153 for the match. Winnipeg hit .268 in the third set but -.074 in the fifth. Kalena Schulz had 16 kills and nine digs. Madison Fyvie had 22 digs and Rylie Dickson had her second match this season with at least 50 assists, posting 53 along with 11 digs. 

The Huskies hit .271, .242 and .300 in the final three sets. 

Emily Koshinsky led Saskatchewan with 18 kills. Mandi Fraser added 17 and Olivia Mattern 15.
