Box Score REGINA — Ashleigh Laube had a match-high 19.5 points but the Winnipeg Wesmen were unable to sweep their first road weekend of the Canada West season.
Jessica Lerminiaux had 13 kills and the Regina Cougars won two extra-point sets Saturday, defeating the Wesmen women's volleyball team 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 28-26) in a conference match that earned the hosts a weekend split.
The Wesmen won in straight sets on Friday.
Laube finished with 16 kills, three aces and a block assist as the Wesmen fell to 3-5 on the season and into a three-way tie with Regina and Manitoba for third in the East Division. Winnipeg's next six matches are against Manitoba (two) and second-place Brandon (four).
Selva Planincic added 11 kills for the Wesmen, who hit .179 for the night with 47 kills on 140 swings. Portia Switzer had a team-high 14 digs, Emma Parker added 13 and Taylor Cangemi 10.
A night after posting a career-high seven block assists, Kely Warmington added five more. She also had six kills on 12 swings with no errors.
Sierra Paris-Kruger had a match-high 21 digs for the Cougars, who had 61 digs as a team and hit .205.
Winnipeg's next match is Saturday at Manitoba.
