After having his most productive weekend of the season, Malachi Alexander has been named the MBLL Wesmen male athlete of the week.
Alexander, a third-year guard on the Wesmen men's basketball team, helped Winnipeg to a road sweep of the Regina Cougars with double-digit scoring Friday and Saturday night.
In an 80-62 triumph on Friday, Alexander scored a game-high 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting and added six rebounds and three assists. His point total was the second-highest of his career after he set his career-high of 21 six days earlier against Manitoba.Â
In an 85-76 win on Saturday, Alexander scored 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting.Â
In his past three games, Alexander upped his scoring average by 1.5 points per game and closed the conference season with a career-high 9.4 points per game. He averaged 17.7 points per game during that stretch and shot 60 per cent from the field and 45.4 per cent from three.Â
