After blowing past her previous career-high and helping the Wesmen to a weekend sweep, Brooke Duncalfe has been named the MBLL Wesmen female athlete of the week.
Duncalfe, a second-year left side on the Wesmen women's volleyball team, averaged 4.86 kills per set as the Wesmen earned two wins over the UBCO Heat that allowed them to move to seventh place in the Canada West standings.
On Friday, in a four-set win, Duncalfe had a career-high 24 kills while hitting .327 on 49 swings. She also added 12 digs and an ace.Â
The following night, in a quick three-set victory, Duncalfe added 10 more kills on .321 attacking with two aces and a solo block.
Duncalfe has registered double-digit kills in five straight matches and double-digit digs in six of her past seven. This weekend marked the first time in her career she has hit .300 or better on the same weekend.Â
The Wesmen host the Calgary Dinos in a best-of-tree play-in series that starts Thursday (7 p.m.) at the Duckworth Centre.Â
