Ring of Honour
A standout player on the volleyball court, Diane Scott was a member of the inaugural class of inductees to the Wesmen Ring of Honour.Â
Scott was one of four inductees first announced when Wesmen Athletics unveiled its Ring of Honour in 2018, and officially went up in a ceremony prior to a match in early 2019.Â
Scott was a three-time champion with the Wesmen after joining the program in 1983 and remains one of only two Wesmen athletes across all sports to have earned the prestigious Howard Mackie Award as the national female athlete of the year, which she won in 1993.Â
Scott was a two-time all-Canadian and was also named the national player of the year in 1993, when she returned to the team after a stint with the national program.Â
Scott went on to a career playing professionally in Germany before returning to UWinnipeg to take on the head coaching role of the Wesmen in 1995. She was named the national women's coach of the year in 2011-12, the GPAC coach of the year in 1995-96 and led the Wesmen to a national silver medal in 2002-03.
