Ring of Honour
The most accomplished player to ever put on a Winnipeg Wesmen basketball jersey was one of the first inductees into the Wesmen Ring of Honour.
Sandra Carroll, who led the UWinnipeg women's basketball team to three straight national titles in the early 1990s, was inducted alongside former head coach Tom Kendall as the first two members in 2018.
Carroll was a three-time winner of the Nan Copp Award as the player of the year across Canadian university women's basketball. She was a three-time all-Canadian in leading the Wesmen to national titles in 1993, 1994 and 1995, and was a second-team all-Canadian in 1991-92 when the Wesmen won the former Great Plains Athletic Conference.
She was also a national tournament MVP in 1994 and 1995.
In 2019 she was named by U Sports as one of the 100 greatest players of all time, and she figured prominently in The Streak, a run of 88 straight victories from October 1992 to December 1994, which at the time matched the UCLA Bruins men's team for longest of all-time.
Carroll is a member of the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame (2007) and the Manitoba Sport Hall of Fame (2017) and is twice enshrined in the Canada West Hall of Fame, going in as a team with the Wesmen of the 90s and as an individual, both in 2020.
